Dear Sandra, hope all is well.
This was our 5th year of doing Summer Toast, and every year it keeps getting better. Thank you again for doing such a great event! Everyone with whom I spoke with all had a great smile on their face. What a great way to connect with possible new clients, and see old friends.
Stop by with some friends so I can buy you all lunch : )

It truly was a wonderful evening. Your rest is well deserved as you and Victoria did marvelous magic with all the planning, organizing, PR, and giving-forward efforts. Yes, I'm looking forward to receiving the newsletter. Moreover, where do I send the check from the Heon House for Connect The Kids?

Thanks Sandra,
I think it was a good event. One of the major improvements from last year was control over the entry points. At Writer's Square, there were so many points of entry that many people attending didn't pay for admission.
With multiple places to get something to drink, there weren't long lines at the Freshies table for example. That helped with being able to mingle since you weren't waiting in line for a long time.
I have a couple of things that I wanted to draw your attention to:
I appreciated the idea of the QR code/text contest and I thought it was a good way to encourage seeing multiple vendor locations. However, the game cards were not made easily available. When you stepped inside Brooklyn's there was a camera crew that took up a near permanent position, you were forced to go in one direction quickly just to get out of congestion and it took 3 booths before anyone could guess where to get a game card. After I was there 90 minutes, someone came by with a few cards to hand out, but by that time, I gave up on the contest. Someone handed me a name tag, they could have handed me a game card at the same time.
I appreciate the effort to be environmentally conscious and understand the desire to recycle and compost instead of dumping everything. However, I found that I was carrying around trash for a good portion of the evening since the booths did not have a trash bin. There were not enough refuse stations. There were too many times I was putting trash on the floor or on a table to meet a new person, shake a hand and then search for a compost bin. It was becoming a source of conversation and frustration. I saw people just handing back used plates and bowls to the people serving food. In the spirit of being green, I saw people become unsanitary.
I thought there was a higher number of vendors and suppliers at this event over last year. I saw a lot of solo practitioners, vendors like web developers, and suppliers like hotel/catering companies. I didn't see a lot of industry people (agencies or clients.) I don't know why, location perhaps?
Last item, a map of the location with the vendors, restrooms, and this year trash/recycle/compost stations would have been very helpful. I understand that maps are paper and that is not green, but I had no idea where the vendors, associations, etc I wanted to see were located.
Thanks for the opportunity to share. - Mark
