Greening SummerToast

Our success depends on your support.

SummerToast producers are incorporating green event best practices into the planning and production of the event to lower our carbon footprint and lighten our environmental impact.

Everyone can pitch in!

One goal is to divert at least 80% of waste to either recycling or composting. All attendees, sponsors and exhibitors can help by pitching waste into appropriate receptacles at the event. Our generous sponsor Alpine Waste & Recycling will provide bins for recycling, composting and landfill waste, and Heritage Bag will supply bio bags.

Here is a sampling of greening initiatives at SummerToast:
    1. Location of venue: easy access to public transportation, including Light Rail and Mall Shuttle.
    2. Supplier selection: Choose suppliers with established green practices, including audio visual company, J&S Audio Visual, and catering company, The Gourmet Kitchen.
    3. Bike Program: Denver Bike Sharing program offers FREE 24-hour membership to get you to and from the event on August 5. See below for details.
    4. Choose a green hotel, Crowne Plaza Denver for overnight guests at special $99 rate (mention SummerToast for the event rate).
    5. Recycling and composting: Alpine Waste & Recycling will have company representatives on site to help guests and exhibitors figure out which bin to pitch our waste into.
    6. Registration: paperless registration process, web-based registration; reports printed on recycled paper.
    7. Food & beverage service: used compostable or recyclable service ware as much as possible, and restaurants and guests will be directed to divert waste into appropriate bio bags from Heritage Bag Company.[LINK: www.heritage-bag.com] Catering provided by The Gourmet Kitchen, with excellent green menu choices and business practices.
    8. Exhibits: Established a formal exhibitor greening program: minimize packaging, print materials and promo items; print 2-sided materials, using recycled paper and vegetable based inks; donate any leftover signage and supplies to non-profit; no Styrofoam.
    9. Communications: Outreach consisted primarily of web-based communications to attendees, exhibitors, sponsors and restaurants.
    10. Attendee support: Solicit attendee participation in greening efforts. Everyone can pitch in! SummerToast guests can help by recycling at the event and by carpooling, taking public transportation or biking. Together, we can make a positive difference.
