Started in 2006 by Beth McWhirter, Mission Wear is a local, eco-friendly, nonprofit business that supports women in recovery. We hire women from recovery programs in Denver and give them a job making reusable shopping bags from recycled fabrics—coffee bean bags, denim jeans, and advertising banners donated by our community. Our products can be found in local stores such as Whole Foods, Marczyk’s Fine Foods, Revampt in Cherry Creek and local markets such as the South Pearl and Boulder Farmers’ Markets.
Passion for People and Upcycle
We have a passion to provide a place for women who are in recovery and need the opportunity to begin building their confidence and sometimes for the first time, a job history. We hire them because they have a past. Mission Wear is a safe place for women to re-enter the work place.
Mission Wear creates upcycled products such as reusable shopping bags for those who want to take personal action to be more environmentally conscious.
Without getting in your face, we want to help increase awareness about the importance of individuals incorporating reusable products into their daily lives; everyone can make a difference!
On September 12th , 2012, Mission Wear will host their fourth annual fundraiser – called The Harvest Party –at which they will celebrate their strength as an organization, the women in our program and our supporters. This year, the fundraiser will be at the Mercury Café and will feature The Mile Markers and Reckless Red, so it will be a blast!
We can’t thank all of you at SummerToast enough for selecting us as your charity this year and for helping us with our mission. If you have any products you would like to donate to us, please contact us.
